The perfect setting for catfish and carp fishing on the river Ebro in Spain

The river Ebro is famous for the huge catfish and carp that inhabit its waters and anglers from around the world come here to test their skills.  Here at Ebro Mad Cats HQ we are based just yards from the river Ebro at Riba Roja D’Ebre, with accommodation and exclusive swims on one of the most picturesque and productive sections of the river. We restrict the number of people fishing on our banks so you can be sure of having a section of river all to yourself.  Choose either our casita and pool or our static caravan. Either way you will have air-conditioning, internet tv and self-contained cooking facilities. We will set you up in a stunning location with quality tackle and comfortable accommodation. You can get a meal, a sleep or a shower secure in the knowledge that your swim will be just as you left it when you decide to get back to the action. Check out our accommodation page for details.

Our fully guided packages give you the very best chance of catching that carp or catfish of a lifetime, and we can tailor a holiday to suit your needs. Please check out our packages for more information.

Are you ready for the challenge?

Plenty of big catfish and shoals of carp inhabit this stretch of the Ebro, as well as specimen zander, bass, perch and roach. Carp sizes vary from doubles to over 50lbs, and average around the 25lb mark; these are wild river fish so expect fast takes and a spectacular fight! The catfish exceed 240lb, with specimens over the magical 100lb barrier visiting the bank on a regular basis. Take a look at our carp and catfish photo galleries.  If you are into your fishing and want a new adventure, then this is the place for you. After 14 years fishing the Ebro river and its tributaries, on Thursday morning I finally netted myself a decent sized mirror. It’s actually my seventh in that time (although quite a few EMC anglers have also struck it lucky over the years) and a river PB mirror for me by 4lb, weighing in at 32lbs.
It has all the hallmarks of a discarded livebait, but clearly isn’t struggling in its new home as just 3 years back a friend caught the same fish 15lbs lighter! If it carries on growing at that rate it’s going to be a very big carp in the future. I think I will name it now, just in case it does great things. Let’s call her Houdini; it’s obviously an escape artist 😉🎣
